An ATV sprayer is a way to mount a device on the back of your tractor or other all-terrain vehicle that can allow you to spray from the vehicle. This means spraying weed killer or other liquids can be much easier done in different environments, some that you wouldn’t be able to reach otherwise, without a vehicle of this nature. We’ve reviewed five of the top models out there in this article.

The Precision Products TCS15 Spot Sprayer is our editor’s choice. The reason we’ve named this the best ATV sprayer is that it attaches to any 12V battery, providing reliable spraying. You can buy it in 25 gallon and 15 gallon variations. The pumping works at 1 gallon per second so you can spray at a fast enough rate for most purposes. This is a simple sprayer, but it is very effective. We gathered lots of information on this sprayer as well as four others to help you to make the final choice.

We mention features in the reviews such as the pump and the pressure (how quickly and reliably weed killer or other substances are sprayed). We’ve also looked at the size of the tank, hose and the height of the spray, as well as the dimensions of the sprayer. It is important that you match this up to your own vehicle. There is plenty of choice on the market, and the more detailed information is to be found in our buying guide and products reviews.

Quick Summary

The pump works very quickly, as it can work at 2 gallons per minute. The 15 gallon tank can be sprayed in no time!

The filtration doesn’t necessarily work to improve the spraying, but it does help to extend the life of the sprayer. It stops areas from getting clogged up as easily.

It can be configured for mounting on a wide variety of different vehicles including tractors, ATV and UTV vehicles. It is pretty simple to mount. The 15-gallon tank has been made well, with plenty of sturdy and durable quality. The 5-inch opening makes it easy to fill up and mix when you need to. There’s a pressure gauge. It shows the sprayer’s PSI, which is normally at 70 PSI.

It doesn’t come with a boom kit, but if you are looking for the best ATV boom sprayer reviews we have some below. Also, you can attach optional boom kits made by the same manufacturer.

A lot of people are in the market for finding a product that is affordable. Not all of us have a lot of cash to spend on our ATV sprayers. The Ironton ATV Spot Sprayer has a slightly low capacity and pressure, but it is a good option if you are looking to save some money, and it still does a perfect job for use in your garden or smallholding.

The sprayer has been recommended for use with Roundup Agricult sprays.

The 8-gallon tank is pretty robust, so you can use lots of different types of spray and pesticides and not have to worry too much about the damage they could do on the plastic. One extra feature we really love is the fact it has a 3.5 inch opening and fluid levels indicated on the side. This means you can see how much is left and also see how much you have added for mixing.

The 1 GPM flow is pretty standard, and all of the parts have been designed for use with tough chemicals. Santoprene and Viton are used in the construction to make them handle all materials.

Though this is a good quality model it isn’t suited to commercial use or for big spray projects.

Why did it make our list?
  • Good value for money
  • Fairly easy to use
  • Chemical resistant
What is not ideal about it?
  • No filter
  • Small capacity and pressure

Things to Consider

An ATV sprayer is not the sort of thing you buy every week. It’s important that you make the right decisions when you are buying an ATV sprayer and find one that can work with your vehicle. It can be confusing when first looking to buy a sprayer as you may not be sure what all the terminology means and what you should be on the lookout for. Our buying guide and ATV boom sprayer reviews are designed to make that easier and a little bit less confusing for you!
Our buying guide has been put together by our team of researchers when looking into the most effective sprayers for ATVs.

When and why do I need an ATV sprayer?

5 Best ATV Sprayers - Save Your Time And Efforts

An ATV sprayer is ideal if you have the correct vehicle for it, such as an ATV or a tractor, or something along those lines. If you have fields or large agricultural areas that need to be sprayed then these can be the way to do it. If you don’t have proper agricultural equipment, they are a great middle ground for farms and for smaller land holdings. You can use a sprayer attached to the back of your vehicle to spray pesticides.

You can spray pesticides and other weed killers on large portions of land by using a sprayer. A nozzle can allow you to do so, but you can also attach a boom to cover more areas and have a wider spread over your land. An ATV sprayer can save you a lot of time and effort in the long run.

Things to consider before buying the best ATV sprayers

As we have briefly mentioned, there are certain things you need to think about when you are buying an ATV sprayer. These might not be things that had occurred to you beforehand. You need to make sense of some of the terminology and features of these sprayers before you make a call on which one to buy. The features below explain what we have based our reviews on. How do we decide which ATV sprayers to include in our list of the best, and which to review? Our ATV boom sprayer reviews are based on the features below.

Type

There are some relatively simple differences, but they’re important nonetheless.

Do you need to buy a pull-type vs mounted sprayer? A mounted option actually fits on the back of your ATV. It may have ratchet straps to keep it in place. The pull-type options work a bit like a trailer. They have their own wheels and can be dragged along by the ATV while they are spraying. The types we have focused on are the best mounted ATV sprayers. These are a better option for most people.

Boom vs Boomless is another decision you are going to have to make. Pretty much all ATV sprayers are compatible with booms, but don’t come with them as standard. A boom can extend the reach of the sprayer and allow you to cover a bigger area. It distributes the spray along a longer spread. A boom is usually an extra expense. Think about whether a spot type ATV sprayer would be suitable.

Tank capacity

A fairly self-explanatory feature. How big is the tank? Many of the models out there are somewhere around the 15 feet mark. This is suitable for most sprayers. It provides plenty of liquid space for you to add your pesticides or other chemicals in order to spray your land correctly and thoroughly.

Power supply

How is the power supplied to the ATV sprayer? Many of these options run off the 12V battery normally provided within a vehicle such as an ATV or a tractor. Our editor’s choice, the Precision Products TCS15 Spot Sprayer, is an example of a sprayer that simply hooks up to a 12V supply from an engine and operates in this way. Power supplies simply need to be matched up to the vehicle in question.

5 Best ATV Sprayers - Save Your Time And Efforts

Flow rate

How quickly does the liquid flow out of the sprayer? This is measured in Gallons Per Minute. It’s an important measurement to consider when buying an ATV sprayer, especially if you want to use it while moving around quite quickly and to cover a lot of ground. How much of the chemical solution can you spray each minute? The options on our list vary from 1 GPM to 2.2 GPM.

Materials

The Ironton is a good example of material being used to good effect. Santoprene and Viton are used to help the sprayer to be UV resistant and resistant to chemicals. This means a longer lifespan for the sprayer before it is likely to get damaged. If you are using chemicals to spray that are known to be corrosive, pay close attention to the materials.

Dimensions

This is a simple measurement of the size, but play close attention to the dimensions to ensure it will comfortably fit on the back of your vehicle. If you are using an option of ATV sprayer that has a boom included then this is even more important as it can make the sprayer much wider.

Spray height and pattern

How high can the sprayer spray? Some of the models can go up to 30 feet, this is great for reaching crops and plants that are higher in their growth cycle. The NorthStar High-Pressure ATV Spot Sprayer can spray up to 30 feet. It also has an adjustable nozzle to give different spray patterns, which can mean different coverage levels.

Warranty

The warranties on ATV sprayers do vary significantly, the best option if you are looking for a long warranty is probably the BioLogic 6500 Chapin Outfitters ATV Sprayer. This gives an incredible 5-years of protection via a very generous warranty.

Prices

5 Best ATV Sprayers - Save Your Time And Efforts

If you manage to find a product under $100 then you might not be buying the best quality. ATV sprayers tend to cost a few hundred dollars. The better the materials used in the design, the more it is likely to cost.

How to install ATV Sprayer?

There are a variety of ways an ATV sprayer can be suspended on the back of your vehicle. Some have clamps, others will screw into specific slots within the vehicle. All of the options on our list of the best sprayers come with full instructions for mounting. In terms of connecting to the power, this is often done with clamps that can connect to the battery and draw power to be used by the sprayer.

FAQ

Which tank size should have my ATV sprayer?

This is very much a matter of preference. If you need to do a lot of heavy-duty spraying then you might want to go for a bigger tank such as a 25 gallon option. 15 gallons is common, and suitable for most users of ATV sprayers. Obviously, if you think you are going to use a lot of spay then you don’t want to constantly be refilling it. The bigger, the better in these scenarios.

Can I use ATV sprayer for “soft washing” houses?

This is a job usually done by pressure washers. Some models may be suitable, especially if they have a bigger spray height, but it is not always recommended. This is also not a good idea if you are often switching the contents of your sprayer.

Can I use bleach in an ATV sprayer?

Using bleach is usually best avoided. However, it depends on the connections and materials used to make your sprayer. If you have certain types of nozzle, they will be quickly destroyed by the bleach. We don’t recommend it, especially if you are switching between bleach and other chemicals.

Our verdict

Our editor’s choice is the Precision Products TCS15 Spot Sprayer. It has an 8 foot detachable power harness, a very sturdy build and reliable and simple setup. It’s pretty easy to get started using this and the connection to a 12V battery is very straightforward. We’ve given this ATV sprayer a rating of 9.8/10.

The Chapin 97300 is a great option if you plan to hook it up to boom kits. It comes in at 9.6/10 on our list and is number two the best ATV sprayer. If you attach to an 8 ft or 16 ft boom (as recommended by Chapin) you can get excellent coverage and a fast 2 GPM spread.

Finally, the Ironton ATV Spot Sprayer has been named as the best budget option. It’s very affordable, but built to last with an excellent, chemical-resistant tank. The spraying capabilities are great for smaller projects, though this isn’t exactly industrial scale for an ATV sprayer.
